Our Annual Garden Party with all that Jazz!
All that Jazz at The Ashton’ annual garden party.
Our residents had a fantastic time at the annual summer garden party which took place on the 16th of August. Residents were treated to relaxing summer jazz sounds and saxophone entertainment provided by the wonderful Mistral Saxophone Quartet.
Hinckley musicians, Rachel Gordon, John Finlay, Joy McDonald and Peter Nicholls formed the group 18 months ago and are becoming established as a popular local ensemble. Their quartet line-up has John playing baritone sax, Peter- tenor sax, Joy- alto sax and Rachel- soprano sax, although they are all multi-instrumentalists.
The group played a selection of music for residents of The Ashton, their friends and family from the world of dance,
Care home manager Tracy Heyes, who is behind The Ashton’s extensive activity programme, co-ordinated the day which saw staff serving delicious sandwiches and cakes, as well as Pimms and lemonade for refreshments in the home’s landscaped gardens. Staff and residents also wore lots of big, colourful sunglasses as part of the fun day.
Tracy said: “The garden at The Ashton is a beautiful place to be and we could think of nothing better than enjoying a cool glass of Pimms whilst listening to the fantastic group,
“We extended the invitation out to friends and relatives of residents as well which meant it was a really lovely family day and everyone agreed it was a real hit and we should definitely do it again next year!”
