Meet The Team
- Home Manager
I grew up and studied in Leicestershire, and although I lived in Wales for a time and later in Nottingham for many years, it’s great to be back to my roots and especially in being welcomed here at The Ashton last year. I qualified as a nurse back in 2002, having previously worked as a carer for 8 years from the age of 17. I have over 28 years of experience working in the NHS and the health and social care sector. In my own time, I enjoy reading, cooking, travel, and spending time with my family. I am passionate about lifelong learning, open communication, dignity, having fun, being kind, developing teams, and ensuring the care residents receive is personalised and tailored to their specific needs and preferences. I am a great believer in community, and I cannot see myself doing anything else, it’s wonderful to be part of The Ashton family. My door is always open.
- Deputy Manager Nurse
Hi, My name is Winnie, and I am the deputy manager at The Ashton Care Home. I am a registered general nurse and have worked in the NHS and Special Care for 15 years. I lived with and looked after my grandparents for 12 years and I believe that’s how my passion for working with the elderly started. I have now been at the Ashton for six months and I love working here. I like to see myself as a problem solver and I am always happy to help when needed.
I have been a nurse for 22 years and worked in hospitals and the community with Adults and Children in medical, surgical and orthopaedic capacity. I have also worked on cancer units.
I have worked with complex care including tracheostomy and ventilation and residents with spinal injury and stroke and cancer care in residents’ homes.
Previously to moving to The Ashton, I was a clinical trainer for complex care in clients’ homes. I decided to move to The Ashton as I didn’t like being away from home in hotels all week, I started here in January 2019 and love the residents here and the home and can’t see myself ever wanting to leave The Ashton.
- Senior Carer
I have worked in care for the last five years. I was studying a level 3 business studies course when I came into care, but after working in the home for six months I decided to stay on as a full-time care assistant. After four years of working in the home I have progressed to become a senior care assistant, and I hope to continue progressing to become a nurse in the near future. I enjoy working in the care sector as it makes me feel happy being able to help other people, and to make an improvement to their everyday life. I love to see the residents have a smile on their face, as it makes me aware that they are content and cared for.
