Dementia Care

Our residential care home provides dementia care in Leicestershire in an environment that has been designed to be safe, caring, and welcoming. At The Ashton Care Home, all members of our dementia care team have received extensive, specialised training in dealing with all elements of memory impairment. We also take a holistic and person centred approach to care, ensuring that each and every resident is provided with the highest level of care and respect.

Our management team and activity coordinators go above and beyond, collaborating with dementia care residents and their loved ones to identify activities and therapies that are appropriate for their specific needs and to create a dementia care plan for each individual. Through daily planned activities, social and mental stimulation and interaction are improved and any frustrations and tensions associated with dementia are relieved.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is an umbrella term for illnesses that affect a variety of mental functions, including speech and memory. Supporting people living with dementia can ensure that they continue to live their lives to the fullest. With the right care and support from specialist dementia care homes and nursing homes, staff can help those living with dementia keep their sense of self and independence for as long as possible.

The Ashton Care Home understands that no two people living with dementia are the same and that although some may only require minor assistance in managing their daily life, others may require far more. Our dementia support service is tailored to each individual, and our care home and staff provide care in the ideal environment for people to live a happy and safe life.

Providing Dementia Care in Leicestershire

Our staff have undertaken extensive dementia care training and we take pride in offering the greatest level of care and respect to each resident. We work hard to support people and provide a dementia care service that allows each person to reach their full potential and live a happy and comfortable life. Social and mental stimulation and interaction are improved, and any frustrations and tensions associated with dementia are addressed, thanks to regularly planned activities.

We are proud to provide dementia care in Leicestershire and our care home has been created with carefully designed spaces and knowledge of the need for comfort and familiarity, as well as practicalities such as en-suite wet rooms. We encourage residents to bring their belongings from their own homes to make their personal space their own.

We also provide much-needed support for the family members of our residents as the transition is as much a change for them as it is for their loved one.

When is Dementia Care Necessary?

Whether it’s you or a loved one, a dementia diagnosis can present a multitude of obstacles on a daily basis for those who live with it as well as those who care for them. Dementia is a progressive condition, which means that as time passes, the individual suffering from dementia will require more support and care. Dementia care supplied by dementia care homes and nursing homes will be required if a person’s dementia has progressed to the point where they require more care and support than can be provided at home.

The Ashton Care Home team creates an authentic picture of a person’s life with the help of family and loved ones, ensuring that both medical and personal care is considered and facilitated. Working closely with family and loved ones helps us get to know our residents in order to create an accurate picture of their life – ensuring their continued happiness, comfort, and wellbeing.
