We celebrated Dignity Action Day where some of our residents and carers wrote on leaves about what dignity meant to them. We then added them to our Digni-tree where everyone could read and see what others put and have a discussion about them.

Dignity Action Day provides the yearly opportunity for health and social care workers as well as the local community to endorse people's rights to dignity and provide a memorable day for those receiving care. Dignity Action Day highlights the importance of giving every individual who uses a care service choice, control and a sense of purpose in their everyday lives.

Dame Joan Bakewell, a Dignity in Care Ambassador said the following:

"Dignity Action Day highlights a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable people. The very old and the very young clearly need our respect, but it wouldn't do any harm to spread the dignity message across the population then we can all benefit."

You can read more about Dignity Action Day on the Dignity In Care website.

At The Ashton, we try to incorporate as many significant days as we can into our schedule, whether that's hosting an event or providing residents with engaging activities associated with a national day.

If you would like to find out more about what we get up to at The Ashton, please get in touch with our friendly team today.
